Gifted and Talented Visual Art Exhibition 2018
The Gifted and Talented Visual Art Exhibition 2018 was held on Wednesday 31 October, at the Ron Murphy Art Gallery, Balcatta Senior High School.
The exhibition was opened by Dr Kevin Robertson.
It was a stunning night with a huge crowd of parents, students and staff to celebrate the outstanding work that the Balcatta Senior High School Gifted and Talented Visual Art students had created over the year.
For those who were able to attend were fed (or overfed) with beautiful grazing tables that had been set up and prepared by the amazing Home Economics staff and students.
The skies were lit with fairy lights and dramatic stage lighting. Dry ice and smoke machines set the mood as Michelle Murning’s Wearable Arts students rocked the fashion catwalk. Showcasing their artwork in the form of dresses and costumes made from anything they could get their hands on to re-use and recycle. We had a special guest model on the night, our very own super star teacher and relief coordinator Debbie Stevens who stole the show in her gold frills.
Patron of the Gifted and Talented Visual Art program Professor Ted Snell AM, presented the inaugural Patron Award to Gabriel Martinez Rivera of Year 10. Gabriel was highly commended for his amazing artwork.
The Principal Helen Maitland said, “the quality of work exhibited was exceptional. The exhibition showcased the many talents of our students including Music and Hospitality.”
