Year 7 HASS Parliament House Excursion

12 December 2019

On Tuesday 10 December, our Year 7 HASS students attended an excursion to the Constitutional Centre of Western Australia and Parliament House of Western Australia.

The excursion formed part of their study of Civics and Citizenship. Students gained an understanding of the role of the Constitution in Australian history and politics. They learnt how voting works at State and Federal levels and took part in a mock voting election. They had to vote for the following parties; Chicken, Pasta, Seafood and Steak. It was a close finish between Chicken and Pasta with Chicken winning the election.

Students were lucky to meet the Hon Mark McGowan BA LLB MLA who welcomed them to Parliament House and also David Michael MLA who came to say hello before going into the Parliament Sitting. Students went into the Parliament Sitting and sat at the public gallery for a few minutes to witness a real sitting session.

Thank you to all staff who attended and assisted with the excursion and also thank you to students for their excellent behaviour.
