On Tuesday 7 August, Ms Blitvich's Year 11 ATAR English class visited Channel 9 News in Perth, to learn more about how the news is made and the different ways that people are represented in the mainstream media. Students participated in a tour of the studio, the control room, the newsroom and had the chance to speak to journalists about what it is like to work for a major news organisation.
A highlight of the experience was several students having the opportunity to read the news bulletin at the desk and we discovered some real naturals who have a shining career in the media ahead of them. This excursion was another opportunity to show students how their studies in the classroom are applicable in the real world and gave them an opportunity to imagine a future career in journalism or related fields.
Students were all incredibly engaged, well behaved and asked insightful questions, representing the school to a high standard. A big thank you to Mr Curtis who gave up part of his day to attend the excursion and provide supervision to the students.
