Italian (Year 8)
Year 8 Italian at Balcatta is an introductory course for some students and for others it is consolidation and extension from what was covered in Primary School. The emphasis in Year 8 is on communication at a simple level. The focus is to give students confidence in their ability to communicate in a Language Other than English (LOTE). Topics covered enable students to gain an awareness of everyday basic Italian: greetings, introductions and moving from 1st person to 3rd person (talking about oneself and then talking about others).

Opportunities exist for students who continue with Italian to participate in the Student Exchange in Year 11. No previous knowledge of Italian is necessary for this subject.
